Singer Idan Raichel and his band have been invited to take part in the international WOMAD (World of Arts, Music and Dance) festival in Rivermead, Britain, Israel Radio said before dawn on Tuesday. The festival will take place July 29-31 and features over 70 artists from 30 countries on seven stages. Id
Idan Raichel has so far released two albums in Israel, which have topped chart-lists and have been celebrated with great critical acclaim. Singer Peter Gabriel helped to found the prestigious festival around twenty years ago. WOMAD was created to enable artists from all over the world to join together and perform in their field. The festival puts an emphasis on the need for multicultural understanding.Since the first festival in Shepton Mallett, England in 1982, WOMAD has presented more than 145 events in 22 different countries and islands.
