Last tickets for WOMAD festival

THE last of the tickets for the Wiltshire WOMAD festival are being snapped up in advance of the three-day family event at the end of this month.

The World of Music Arts & Dance returns to its spiritual homeland in the county this year after a lengthy residence in Berkshire.

Founder Peter Gabriel, who has music studios in Box and lives nearby, will be headlining the festival at its new site in Charlton Park, Malmesbury.

Taking place between July 27-29, fans have been quick to take the new site into their hearts and have bought up nearly all of the tickets.

This is a very special year for all those connected with WOMAD as it is celebrating its 25th year in operation. WOMAD is also celebrating the festival's 25th anniversary by releasing a three CD box set that brings together some of the many musical highlights from its history. The forty-five track release also includes a ninety-six-page book and is due out at the end of July to coincide with the festival.

Set in a picturesque rural landscape in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, Charlton Park is a green, pleasant and spacious environment. Around 20,000 are expected to attend and the festival will feature seven stages and workshop areas, including a children's village. Alongside the new attractions the familiar entertainment will remain including, live music; weekend camping; a full programme of participatory workshops for adults and children; international food, drink, arts, craft and merchandise stalls and sumptuous site decoration featuring hundreds of flags, projections, visual art and temporary structures.
