Nick Mulvey, percussionist from Portico Quartet, tells Charlotte Bailey about his week
Wednesday
This has been the busiest week of my life: I play percussion for a jazz group called Portico Quartet and our debut album, Knee-Deep in the North Sea, has been shortlisted for the Nationwide Mercury Prize, which is announced next week.
Today we came back from Peter Gabriel's studios in Wiltshire, where we had spent five days working on our next album. It was the first time in a year that we had been in the studio and we had all forgotten how intense the process can be - though we did have our own cottage and our own chef. (...)
