Eilat gears up for annual jazz fest

This year's 19th Red Sea Jazz Festival line-up was announced last week, with its usual mix of big names from the international jazz scene, local artists and world music-oriented acts.
One of the major attractions at next month's festival (August 22-25) is multi-Grammy winner diva Diane Reeves, who last graced the Eilat stage five years ago. Reeves is considered one of the top female jazz vocalists in the world, and should bring in the crowds.
Meanwhile, fusion drummer Billy Cobham will bring his aptly named six-piece Culturemix band. Cobham, whose resume includes collaborations with titans such as Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins and pop-world music innovator Peter Gabriel, last performed in Eilat as anchor to the stellar Art of Four band in 2001.......
