Yusef Islam to Record New Album

Yusef Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens has gone back into the studio to record his first pop album since 1979.

Islam, a Muslim himself since 1977, was inspired by the souring relationship between the western world and Islam (the religion) and he hopes this album will create a better understanding between the two.

The album will be produced by Rick Nowels and was started more than 20 years ago when he abandoned it.

Apart from religious and spoken word albums, he has been very quiet for the last 27 years.

He appeared at the 46664 concert in South Africa, performing his hit ‘Wild World’ with Peter Gabriel, recorded a duet with Ronan Keating and re-recorded his song ‘Peace Train’.

Despite being a massive peace advocate, he was recently taken off a plane heading to the USA because he was on their “terror list”.
